These records, 1975-1982, contain administrative files and financial records. The administrative records include the Bartram Trail Conference's constitution and bylaws, lists of charter members, minutes of Conference meetings, reports from state workshops, administrative and routine correspondence, contracts with the U.S. Department of Interior and individuals, maps of the proposed trail, copies of speeches concerning William Bartram and the conference, and news articles about the Conference and its work. The records contain drafts, copies and audiotapes of the Bartram Heritage Report in which the Conference presented the details of Bartram's life and travels and the plan to honor his contributions. Technical studies and photographs of William Bartram's drawings and maps used in the preparation of the report are also included. The financial records show the expenditures, both major and minor, of the Bartram Trail Conference headquarters. They cover the period in which the conference was busy preparing a feasibility study of the trail and the Bartram Heritage Report with the help of Federal funding from the U.S. Department of the Interior. Included in the records are monthly balance sheets, copies of checks, the project administrator's 1978 list of expenditures, receipts, and billing statements from office supply stores and the Alabama Environmental Quality Association. The majority of the Bartram Trail maps and mounted drawings are described separately and located in the map collection.
